Recommended tools

• Bench vise with soft jaws meant for clamping tubes
• 1.3mm hex key
• Hammer
• 1/4" brass punch

Installation

1. Ensure the firearm is unloaded.
2. Remove the upper from the lower.
3. Remove the bolt from the upper.
4. Clamp the upper in a bench vise with soft jaws meant for clamping tubes.
5. Loosen the two set screws on the rear sight using the 1.3mm hex key.
6. Punch the rear sight out (left to right) using the hammer and 1/4" brass punch.
7. Slide the dovetail filler (right to left) into the empty dovetail slot.

Important notes

• When clamping the upper in the vise, orient the upper so that the left side of the sight points up towards the ceiling and the right side of the sight points down towards the floor.
• Insert the blade of a screwdriver through the bolt stop pin hole to prevent the upper from rotating as you punch out the rear sight.
• The rear sight can be difficult to remove. Apply gun lube inside the dovetail to aid in the removal. You may have to hammer the brass punch much harder than you think and it could take 20+ very hard blows to get the sight out.
